Few may know this name, but for those who do will probably remember the name popping up amongst titles like “Two Stupid Dogs” and “Dexters Laboratory”.

That’s right, he is the animator, director and producer of numerous shows on Cartoon Network. He started his career with the show Two Stupid Dogs back in 1993 as art-director, when CN was still Hanna-Barbera. His style is unmistakable, and can be seen throughout the animation work he was involved in. The acrylic backgrounds, the colour palettes he uses even down to the character design are all so distinct. That mix of 50’s to 60’s painted art, that can be found in encyclopaedia’s of the time and cartoons like the Flintstones.

The reason I am so interested is that the release of a feature length Samurai Jack film is near. Oh YES!! I know I’m SURE you are as excited as I am lol. Ok yeah jokes aside, this really will be something amazing especially if anyone remember the original TV series. I mean the original story, the iconic style, the music and of course the progression and decision to end the cartoon properly. Too many times cartoons are made by the bucket load, no passion or soul is put into the show at all. I know I will probably get the “evil eye” from anime lovers but, the Pokemon cartoon is a prime example of quantity over quality.

Well here are a few images of the beautiful artwork from the Samurai Jack show, and let’s all hold fingers that the film will live up to the legend.
